Alan was an artist, mentor, and teacher all of his life. In his early teens he displayed great talent and promise as a violinist, but instead chose to focus his time and energy in the visual arts.
He graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a degree in Art Education and later went on to receive his Masters of Science from Pratt Institute. He chose teaching as a profession, and taught all areas of art and painting for nearly 40 years at Spring Valley High School in Rockland County NY.
Alan inspired and mentored scores of students who still today remember his influence. A prolific artist, he worked in his home studio on a regular basis. After he retired, he focused more deeply on his own painting and joined the Piermont Fine Arts Gallery in Piermont NY. He was a proud and supportive member of the gallery for many years.
During his career, he exhibited at many venues in Rockland and Westchester Counties, as well as New York City and the greater metropolitan area. His paintings hang in many homes, businesses and institutions around the world. Alan’s work can be seen publicly at the Piermont gallery or his extensive collection can be viewed privately by appointment.
